5 Facts About Chris Colfer!!

1) His first public performance was in elementary school.

“It was fifth grade. We did ‘You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,’ and I was Snoopy.”

2) He has a head of super-thick hair that Jude Law would kill for. Maybe he should get a shampoo endorsement.

“It’s almost unbelievable how thick my hair is. Haircuts are constant. I’m kind of like Harry Potter where my hair just grows back overnight. No one believes how thick it is until they run their hands through it. It’s very thick and it’s very hard to manage. Every morning I wake up looking like Frankenstein’s bride because it just sticks up. I just shower, and that keeps it down. I’m not that in tune with my hair as much as I probably should be.”

3) Chris’ artistic interests extend beyond being on camera

“When I was younger, I was obsessed with set design for theater. I would spend hours and hours and hours building different set models for shows that I knew of, like ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’ I had this little theater model and I’d make it out of cardboard and paper and little turning flats and turntables. It was a lot of fun. I still do it actually. Also, I really want to be a screenwriter later, well, sooner than later really. Although I think I’d be a really, really good director, I’m not sure I want to do it. It’s a lot of work and I think I like creating something more than I like arranging it.”

4) He’s a friend to the furry ones.

“Since I was growing up, I’ve always had a pet. At home at my parents’ house we have our golden retriever Jake. We have two mutts called Marley and Murphy and they’re brothers. They look nothing alike but they’re brothers. They were born on the same day. We have our cat Simon. Simon is this huge, obese tabby cat. Fat cats are the best kind. All the dogs are terrified of him. Sometimes the dogs are just minding their own business and the cat will just walk over there and swat them. Keep them in check, show them who’s boss. It’s kind of inspiring.”

5) He can twirl sai swords in a badass way. Really.

“Raphael [of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles] and Elektra used them and Keanu Reeves uses them in ‘The Matrix’ a couple times and Gabrielle used them on ‘Xena: Warrior Princess.’ I was in a short movie called ‘Russel Fish’ and in it there was a character that was a ninja. They had some [sais] on set. It was a very low budget project and I was my own stand-in, so in between scenes when I was standing there while they adjust stuff, I’d just kinda play around with them. I got really good at it, twirling them and using them. So I bought some on eBay. I’m actually very good at it now.

“I had to find ones that were long enough to be able to do tricks with. The ones I found were 2-2.5 lbs. each, so they’re very heavy. It’s very hard. When I’m twirling them, I hit myself right here on my forearm. When I first started, I had huge bruises, multicolored wounds. I take them with me every day to set. I practice in my trailer. I can do that with a staff also, twirls and that type of stuff. I love weapons. I love being able to do tricks with them.”
